  • The DNS catchy may get corrupted and all the DNS settings may be altered.

Windows Network

        Using a Windows Network, the user can resolve the issues if the device connected to Wi-Fi has no internet access easily. For this, the user needs to follow these steps.

  • First, enter the word settings in the computer search bar.
  • Then click on the “network & internet” option.
  • Next check the ‘status’ option which is available on the left-hand side of the menu bar.
  • Now click on the ‘network troubleshooter’ and run it. It helps to resolve the minor issues of a device that is connected to Wi-Fi but has no internet access.

Startup methods

      If the issue was not resolved with the help of the previous method, then the user needs to check the startup method. If the settings were made for fast startup, then it must be disabled. Because this fastness may create a certain complexion and confusion to the system and few features and settings may slow down the work. For disabling- 

  • First, click on the Windows key and R button at once. This helps to open the run dialog box.
  • Enter this command “powercfg.cpl”

and click on the enter button.

  • Then it directs to the power options menu in which the user needs to select,  “Choose what power buttons do” option.
  • Select  “change settings currently unavailable” at the define column.
  • Then, the shutdown settings will appear where we need to uncheck the fast startup.
  • This helps to disable the fastest startup. Then refresh the device and restart the computer to check the internet access.

Flush out the DNS

If the cache of DNS is increasing day by day and gets corrupted at a time, this leads to the mismatching of IP addresses. It results in causing the problem of having wifi but no internet. So, all the cache of the DNS needs to be flushed regularly. It is a simple process.

  • Enter “command prompt” on the search bar and right-click it.
  • Now run the command prompt app as an administrator for sure.
  • Now type in the following commands and click on the Enter button after every command.
    • ipconfig /flushdns [Enter].
    • ipconfig /release [Enter].
    • ipconfig /renew [Enter].
  • Hence the process is done. Now close the command prompt window and check for the internet connection. 

Updating the network adapter

        Another method to resolve the system which has wifi connected no internet access. If the network adapter becomes outdated, then it prevents connecting to the internet. So, update the adapter when necessary. This can be done using the given steps 

  • First, type ‘device manager ‘ and then click on the result option.
  • Then click on the network adapters from the list of options.
  • Select the wireless option and right-click on it to get opened.
  • Then choose to update the driver option to get updated automatically. If not it can be done manually also.

Validity of IP address

If the IP address of the system doesn’t have validity, then the system may connect to wireless but no internet access. So to resolve the issue related to IP address, the user needs to check and change the settings as follows-

  • Click on the network option available on the taskbar.
  • Then select the “Open Network & Internet Settings” option.
  • Then hit on “Change Adapter Options” followed by a double click on your network.
  • Then a pop-up menu opens where we can find the properties option.
  • Click on the properties option and search for the “Internet Protocol Version 4” option.
  • By double-clicking on the Internet protocol version 4 option, we can check for the validity and corrections of both IP address and DNS servers. The user needs to make corrections if necessary.
  • Finally, click on okay and check for the internet access connected to Wi-Fi.

Altering The Address Of The DNS Server

    It can also be done by using the previous method. Along with that method, another solution to sort out the issues of the device has wifi connected but no internet. 

  • First, click on the Windows key and R button at once. This helps to open the run dialog box.
  • Then enter “control /name Microsoft.NetworkAndSharingCenter” in the taskbar and then click ok.
  • Now click on the “Change Adapter Settings” option available in the top left corner.
  • In the middle, give a right-click on the “WiFi” option and then select the “Properties”.
  • Now click on the  “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” from the pop-up and then click the “properties” button.
  • By double-clicking on the Internet protocol version 4 option, users can check for the validity and corrections of both IP address and DNS servers. So select  “Use the Following DNS Server Address”
  • It is suggested that, for a preferred DNS server, the user needs to enter “” and for an Alternate DNS server, the user can enter “”. 
  • Click on ok.

Uninstall Apps

Most of the issues can be resolved by using all the above methods. Still, the system is facing the access issue, it is better to uninstall the conflicting applications which are not ethical, etc. In some cases, they may prevent the system from accessing the internet even if it is connected to Wi-Fi.

Methods To Solve Connected To WiFi But No Internet

The first user needs to check the status of the Internet service provider whether it is down or not. If the internet service provider is down or outdated, all the devices can connect to wireless but no internet access. So the first and foremost step is to check the status of the isp. This can be done by calling the internet service provider, or by checking the official website of the Internet service provider using mobile data or using any social media also.

If the internet service provider is not down and still the devices connected to Wi-Fi have no internet access, then simply reset or reboot the router. The resetting or rebooting of the router is very simple. First, plug out the router from the wall and leave for a minute.

Then plug in back to the router and wait for a few minutes. Then on the devices and check for internet access.  If the user has both the modem and the router, then repeat the same process for both the router and the modem. After that wait for a few minutes and then switch on the devices and check for the internet connection.

Another most important method to resolve the network issues even when the computer is connected to Wi-Fi is resetting the entire network. But this can be done in very rare cases. Compared to all other methods, this method is a little bit time-consuming process that involves all the steps to be done again. For proceeding with this process, the user needs a network password is mandatory. The steps involved in this process are- 

  • Enter settings in the search bar.
  • Select the “Network & Internet” option.
  • Now click on the “status” option.
  • Scroll down until we get the “network troubleshooter” section.
  • Search for the  “network reset” option.
  • Then click on “network reset” and follow the on-screen directions.
  • It will help to reset the whole network and get back all settings to the default mode.

Even though enjoying the internet services were going well, the problem arises when we find various internet issues which lead to disconnection. Even if it is connected to Wi-Fi, several things are there to prevent access. To find out the root cause of the issue and fix it properly to enjoy internet services further.
